Rowton Castle is an award-winning venue located in the heart of the Shropshire countryside, in Shrewsbury. The 17th Century Grade II Listed Castle will be yours for the day, as an exclusive-use venue. So the only guests will be those specially invited by you to share your wedding celebrations in the 17 acres of grounds.
For a fairy-tale setting to start the morning, brides can choose to get ready in the nearby luxurious Orchard Suite. The natural lighting, many mirrors and ornate chandeliers is the perfect setting to start any special day.
Rowton Castle weddings can be held in 3 locations, whether you’re looking for an outdoors or indoor wedding ceremony.
For indoor ceremonies you can choose either the Cardeston Suite, where you can get married in their Georgian Gothic style room. Or, for the small intimate or elopement ceremony, The Jaci Vianna room is perfect.,
For the perfect outdoor summer wedding ceremony, they have the Linden Belvedere. Over looking the Shropshire countryside. It’s the ideal location for a memorable wedding, as you say your vows amongst the wild flowers in their picturesque gardens, and surrounded by an avenue of lime trees – Hence the name Linden Belvedere: ‘Linden’ means Lime Tree, traditionally a lover’s rendezvous point. While ‘Belvedere’ refers to a structure commanding a fine view.
Once the party is over, there are 19 beautiful bedrooms for your guests to stay overnight.
As an award-winning wedding photographer I’ve shot weddings in all seasons at Rowton Castle. Each season has it’s own unique challenges that I love to tackle to produce some of my favourite images.
Winter Weddings at Rowton Castle
The winter months are short on lighting, so I’m searching for pools of dramatic lighting to make for a moodier, atmospheric image. Sometime I’ll use my flash for an artistic backlit lighting set-up.
Summer Weddings at Rowton Castle
In the summer, with the abundance of natural light both indoors and outdoors, it can be easy to just take a safe boring image. But again trying to use the direction of lighting to my advantage, allows me to make unique images. At night I’ll even bring out my flash again to add variety to your images.
