Equestrian Wedding Venue

This venue is renowned for its equestrian farm atmosphere as there are about 30 horses on site in and around the fields, some of which couples can have their photographs taken with.

The most famous and popular horse on site is “Willandrich” a thoroughbred racing horse who has won many races over the years. He has an American father and a French grandfather, and yet he is Irish.

Before being owned by the current owner, he was owned by William and Richard who had connections with the TV programme “Friends”, giving added reasons why he’s so popular to have photos taken with him!!

The family’s connection with horses has had a long history as they take regular part in the “Horse of the Year” show along with breeding, show jumping and eventing for many years.

The owner’s father is even one of the show’s judges. Hence throughout the property there is a gallery of pictures in the bed and breakfast room relating to the successes over the years.

If you’re a horse lover and want them involved in your wedding celebration, then this venue is ideal for you as you can even bring your own horses on site if so desired.

Wedding Coordination

Lucy Poole, who is the daughter of the owners, will help you to put together as many of the wedding elements as needed. She has got to know some incredible suppliers over the years.

They employ an events’ manager and onsite security who will take care of all your needs from ‘meeting and greeting’ your family and friends, to organising taxis for you in the evening.

You know what it can be like when you are in the middle of a field at the end of the night with a taxi trying to find you … well not here! They have a local taxi company they recommend, a taxi park area in the car park. When the taxi arrives, security will radio through to the event manager in the structure with: “The taxi for Smith is here !” This ensures everything runs very smoothly.

The event manager can look after all the lighting, sound and production and they are first aid trained to deal with any emergency.

The grounds are kept immaculate throughout the evening and the toilets are replenished regularly.

You can read their testimonials from past wedding couples at Alcott Farm here.

Bridal Suite

There is an onsite Bridal wedding suite, located in the barn conversion, with romantic fairy lights set in the wooden beamed ceiling to provide an intimate, rustic atmosphere.

This room has also been tastefully equipped with personal touches, festoon lighting and quirky pictures and quotes related to you as a newly married couple. You can also stay in the Bridal Suite the night before, to prepare well for your wedding the next day.

Wedding Ceremony

As this venue is planning to get a civil ceremony licence, currently ceremonies can only be performed with a Wedding Celebrant. This still means you can personalise your ceremony to your individual and exact requirements.

You can choose an indoor or outdoor ceremony. The venue offers a range of traditional structures with the largest number of guests up to 450.

There are acres of fields all around the farm site where all kinds of fun and entertainment can be planned and enjoyed, even a bucking bronco!! The main field has about 2 acres of usable space to put your structures while still allowing you and your guests plenty of room for games, mingling and general relaxation.

Confetti is permitted, but the biodegradable kind only.

The following structures are what are available to choose from:

Available Structures

There are a variety of outdoor structures available for you to choose from. The most popular being the 4 Hat Tipis, along with Marquees and Yurts.

The variations of structures below are usually set up on Thursday allowing you to have all of Friday to dress it up while spending time with your family and friends.

You have the site until midday on Sunday to collect any personal items and there is a skip you can use to avoid taking any rubbish home with you.

These structures are accessible by an added driveway and there is a car park for up to 100 cars. There is a proper drainage system in place to prevent a boggy ground if weather is inclement, so no worries of sinking into the grass in a muddy field.

On a pleasant sunny evening the sun sets up on the hills behind the structures, so this makes for a truly romantic backdrop for those incredible pictures.

Tipi

Tipis can be small and intimate for a smaller wedding and for larger weddings the hats are linked together. They have rustic benches or tables/chairs, with indoor fairy lights. A wooden dance floor, mirror, matting on the floors and a catering tent is also available. These can hold up to 450 guests.

Capris Marquee

Holds from 80 guests to 200 with indoor fairy lights, tables, chairs and dance floor. You can link the capris together, depending on guest numbers. They come with zipped clear panels so you can see through the windows.

Clear Span Marquees

You can create different shapes and have a classic elegant look through to a rustic style décor with chandelier lighting. This space holds from 80 to 450 guests.

Canvas Marquee

These have sweeping roofs, a cross between a tipi and a marquee. They are made of white canvas material, with one big open area inside with clear panels to appreciate the gorgeous views of the lake and fields. This holds from 80 to 300 guests.

Yurts

These are unique spaces with domed roofs, available to cater from 80 guests to 200.

On-site Accommodation

There is accommodation on site for around 6 guests in the Bed & Breakfast, ideal for immediate family and a stunning bridal suite in a separate barn conversion.

Choose from 2 doubles and 1 twin, or 2 twins and 1 double. All rooms have en-suite facilities, and the ground floor accommodation has wheelchair accessibility. Some rooms have views of the surrounding countryside, including the 2 onsite ponds, one of which boasts many big koi fish.

After your breakfast, or when winding down for the evening, there is a pleasant conservatory to relax in and enjoy the views around.

Your guests can also choose to glamp or to camp on site as there is plenty of space in the field. In the morning the caterers can come back and provide breakfast in the structures, so your wedding doesn’t come to an end on the previous evening!

The family owns 2 very friendly Golden Retrievers named Bella and Elsa who like to get in on the photos also!! In fact Lucy’s 2 beagles, Millie and Margo, might also make an appearance!

Catering

There are reputable and recommended caterers and suppliers that provide first class food from relaxed street food to a sumptuous 3 course meal.

Some of the relaxed street food offerings are:

A vintage fish & chip van

A horsebox with a pizza oven, or choose whatever you would like served from it

BBQ’s

Hog roasts

Ice cream tricycles and vans

…and so much more

All can be arranged by the in-house caterers if you want a bit of nostalgia added to the day.
