Working as a Holywell Hall wedding photographer at this quintessentially English venue, was an absolute treat!

Located in Stamford, Lincolnshire, Holywell Hall is the perfect destination for couples looking for a unique and unforgettable wedding experience. The venue boasts a beautiful church for the ceremony, a grand marquee for the reception and even a bowling alley for the guests’ entertainment.

2nd Shooter at Holywell Hall

For this wedding, I had the privilege of second shooting for John Barwood.

I tend to only get the opportunity to second shoot a couple or so times a year, and love the chance to step back from the main coverage to focus more on capturing behind the scenes, story-telling images, while the main photographer looked after the main part of the coverage.

So from the morning, while John focused on the bride, my assignment was to focus on the groom, then we’d met up as the bride arrived at the church.

From the elegant ceremony in the church to the joyous celebrations in the marquee, every moment was a photographer’s dream.

I am excited to share a selection of my favourite Holywell Hall wedding photos with you, and hope they give you a glimpse into the charm of this beautiful venue. But also what I can add to your main coverage, if you’re looking for an occasional 2nd photographer.

Holywell Hall Church Ceremony

The Holywell Hall church is steeped in history and tradition. The church dates back to the 18th century and is an important example of Georgian architecture. It was designed by renowned architect James Wyatt, who was known for his work on grand country houses and churches.

The church has been beautifully maintained over the years and has retained many of its original features such as large arched windows that flood the space with natural light, and a high ceiling that adds to the grandeur of the space.

Couple’s portraits in the picturesque countryside

Holywell Hall estate is surrounded by lush greenery and rolling hills, providing the perfect backdrop for the couple’s wedding photos.

So I took the opportunity to briefly tag along for a few minutes to capture some photos of the couple in the Holywell gardens and meadow field, from different angles for John, before nipping back to the marquee to photograph the guests mingling, chatting and just having a good time.

The candid moments and emotions captured

The speeches was an excellent time to capture the reaction of the groom being thoroughly embarrassed by the bestman’s stories, while the guests roared with laughter as the stories came thick and fast!

It was during the speeches that I glanced outside and saw a stunning rainbow, so I had to immediately dash outside to capture it. That’s the beauty of having 2 photographers, so nothing is missed.
