We chose Clive as our venue recommended him, his portfolio was exactly what we wanted and he sure delivered us the goods. How to Keep the Day Relaxed and the Evening Guests Dancing!
Some weddings just stick with you — not because of grand gestures or elaborate décor (though Faye’s bold red “Irregular Choice” shoes were definitely a highlight!) — but because of how full of joy and genuine moments the whole day was.
Faye and Dan’s summer wedding in the Rugby area was exactly that. A heartfelt celebration, minimal posing, and plenty of laughter… just the way I like it.
“We really want to capture the day and look back and see the genuine emotion on people’s faces, not posed smiles.”
That was their brief to me — and it couldn’t have suited my style more.
A Relaxed Morning with Laughter, Letters… and Tears
The day started at the venue, where Faye was getting ready with her bridal party. You could feel the excitement bubbling — and when I saw her shoes, I just knew the dancefloor later was going to be something special!
She received a touching letter from Dan that morning, and emotions ran high. There were quiet tears, shared smiles, and a beautiful moment with her brother seeing her in her dress for the first time.
Upstairs, Dan was getting ready too, which meant I could pop in for a few shots of him and the lads — including the surprise watch his parents gave him to mark the day.
A Ceremony Full of Emotion (and Rudy the Dog!)
As guests arrived, their lovely dog Rudy was brought along by the team at Paws2Party — the perfect relaxed addition to a day full of meaning. As Dan waited for Faye at the front of the aisle, you could tell he was holding back nerves. But the moment she arrived? You guessed it… tears again.
The ceremony was full of love, connection, and moments that couldn’t be staged — and that’s what makes a wedding unforgettable.
Post-Ceremony Vibes: Napkins, Lavender and a Surprise Dip
After the ceremony, guests flooded the couple with hugs and laughter. Everyone instantly relaxed into celebration mode. Rudy got plenty of attention too — a hit with all ages!
During the couple’s portraits, we kept things light and natural. I love using the surroundings as they are, and the soft lavender bushes made the perfect spot. Just as we were wrapping up, Dan gave Faye a surprise dip and kiss — an unscripted moment I just happened to catch because I was already ready and watching.
How to Make Your Evening Guests Feel Included
Faye and Dan’s wedding breakfast kicked off with a burst of energy: napkins waving, cheering, clapping — the kind of entrance every couple dreams of.
And then came the undercover singing waiters.
If you’ve never seen them before — imagine this: a tray of cutlery clatters to the floor, everyone gasps… then the “waitress” grabs a mic and starts belting out a tune! It didn’t take long before the whole room was on their feet singing, dancing, and joining in.
This is how you lift the evening energy and make sure everyone — even your evening guests — feels part of the story.
Pizza, Dancing, and Golden Hour Feels
As the sun softened in the evening sky, the pizza van rolled up and the dance floor filled up. Everyone was in the mood to celebrate — exactly how a summer wedding should feel.
From start to finish, it was a day packed with personality, connection, and joy. No forced smiles. No awkward poses. Just the kind of celebration that lets people be themselves — and that always shows in the photos.
