Just like that another 365 days have passed! It’s hard to believe how time flies, and I don’t just mean the last year.

2022 marks 35 years of me shooting weddings. It’s hard believe what was being started when a friend asked me to shoot their wedding in Aug 1987. At the time photography was just a passionate hobby, and I’d shot the occasional portraits, but loved, and still love shooting landscapes. I hesitated taking up their offer, thinking I wasn’t cut out for weddings.

Back then it was all film. You never knew what you got until a week later when everything was processed and printed, and I’d never considered shooting a wedding. But boy am I glad I started and haven’t stopped since as I’ve loved the journey along the way!

My style has certainly changed over the years. Back then it was only traditional photography that was the norm. Every image was posed. Documentary photography wasn’t the accepted way. But I’m so glad I’m now allowed the freedom to tell a more authentic story of a wedding day by capturing the full emotions of a wedding day that are sometimes very fleeting and could be lost were it not for a keen eye and quick reflexes.

As another example of my documentary wedding coverage approach, here’s my 2022 review with just some of my favourite images.

So I’d like to send out a massive thank you to all my lovely 2022 couples who trusted me to document their wedding day. Also a thank you to the many suppliers and venues who I got to work with and who made my job so much easier.

So sit back, hit full screen and enjoy!
