All we can say is—it was one of the best decisions we made for the wedding. Clive captured moments we would never have got to see, and now we have photos to cherish for the rest of our lives.” — Josh & Kya
A Heartfelt Start: Rehearsal Day Moments
Before the big day itself, I had the chance to photograph Josh and Kya’s wedding rehearsal. It was such a fun, relaxed afternoon—with just the right amount of nerves as they walked through the ceremony details. I especially loved seeing the little ones enthusiastically running (rather than walking!) down the aisle during their practice. It gave a lovely preview of the energy to come.
Calm Before the Ceremony
On the wedding day, I started with Kya and her bridesmaids during the morning prep. There was a quiet nervous energy in the room—one of those moments I always aim to document gently and unobtrusively.
Meanwhile, Josh was waiting patiently with his best man and ushers for his bride’s arrival. As the VW van pulled up and the ceremony approached, the nerves kicked in—but the pride on his face as Kya walked in was unmistakable.
From Tears to Laughter
The ceremony was full of emotion. It’s those fleeting, unscripted moments I love to capture most. Like the joy and relief when the formalities are over—Josh and Kya burst into laughter while signing the register, and that set the tone for the rest of the day.
When the Weather Doesn’t Go to Plan…
Rain meant we had to take all the formal group shots indoors, but that’s never a problem. (Don’t look so shocked!! – Yes I happily cover formal groups when asked :-D) With years of experience under my belt (and lighting gear always on hand), I was able to make sure the quality and atmosphere didn’t suffer. Flexibility is key, and weddings often call for it.
By the time we reached the reception at Worfield Village Hall, the skies had cleared—just in time for a quiet portrait session. We slipped away briefly so Josh and Kya could enjoy some time together without being too far from their guests.
Thoughtful Documentary Coverage
I worked as I always do: quietly capturing things as they happened—without interruption or staging. I simply blended into the background and let the story unfold naturally. Candid laughter, heartfelt hugs, and stolen glances between the couple were the perfect ingredients for the story of their day.
Final Thoughts from the Couple
We didn’t really know what to look for when choosing a photographer, but Clive’s documentary style really spoke to us. We didn’t have to think about a thing—Clive took care of it all. We couldn’t have asked for better photos.”
It was a privilege to be part of Josh and Kya’s day—capturing their connection, the fun, the chaos, and the quiet in-between moments that can so easily be missed.
