Situated in the picturesque scenery of South Shropshire and surrounded by gorgeous private gardens, this Georgian country retreat is steeped in history and is the perfect choice for your bespoke wedding celebrations.
Ceremony Options
There are three indoor spaces and outdoor options, all licensed for civil marriages. Additionally, you can choose a religious ceremony conducted in the local village church in Lydbury North.
The Main Hall
The Main Hall is the most popular choice for wedding ceremonies, featuring an ornate ceiling, marble columns, and a floating staircase leading down into the entrance hall. This space can seat up to 120 guests with additional standing space.
The Ballroom and Anteroom
The Ballroom and Anteroom are the other two rooms licensed for wedding ceremonies. These are separated from the Main Hall by a lovely courtyard.
- The Anteroom: Ideal for an intimate ceremony of fewer than 50 guests.
- The Ballroom: Seats up to 120 guests and boasts dramatic lighting and a natural atmosphere.
The Garden
The Garden has a licensed Summer House on a private lawn where humanist and civil ceremonies can be conducted. To make the marriage legal, the marriage vows must be repeated on licensed grounds after the open-air ceremony. This can be conducted in the Main House, Summer House, Fountain Grotto, or in the Ballroom. This requirement does not apply to a humanist ceremony, which can be conducted anywhere on-site without legal constraints.
Reception Spaces
The Ballroom
The Ballroom is beautifully decorated in turquoise, featuring fantastic crystal chandeliers, gilt mirrors, and sash windows, creating an ornate feel. It has its own courtyard leading to the Anteroom, which provides an intimate bar area with a magnificent fireplace. This space can accommodate 100-200 guests for a seated wedding reception and up to 200 for evening festivities.
Catering
The recommended catering teams will ensure you indulge in fine dining, from canapés on the lawn to exquisite food in the Ballroom and street food in the Courtyard. You can bring in your own additional caterers, vendors, and suppliers, or even food vans.
Bridal Suite
The Bridal Suite is a romantic hideaway for newlyweds on their wedding night. This magnificent south-facing bedroom is away from the family private quarters and offers gorgeous views of the gardens. You can use this room for the entire day to bathe, dress, add finishing touches, and enjoy a glass of bubbly to calm your nerves with family and friends before exchanging vows.
Accommodation
Walcot Hall offers sufficient accommodation for up to 110 guests in the 15 self-catering holiday cottages and the 10 glamping ‘Hidden Treasures’ dotted around the estate. These accommodations are all unique, including traditional cottages or a tin chapel tucked away in the arboretum, yurts, shepherds’ huts, and more, all furnished with a mix of antiques, pictures, and soft furnishings. The 30 acres of grounds offer panoramic views, an extensive lake, a walled courtyard, unusual statues, and a fountain.
Booking Information
Walcot Hall is not a hotel, so rooms booked have a minimum stay requirement of a two-night weekend break or a four-night midweek stay from Monday to Friday.
